Extreme Fatigue In Women

Many women around the world are pressured with busy, devoted lifestyles and don’t have time to properly relax and unwind. Extreme fatigue in women, however, is sometimes the result of irregular or unnatural sleeping patters that can be quickly solved. This is the best case scenario and is the usual culprit. A proper sleep program can work wonders in this department.

There are a few other causes of fatigue in women that go beyond simple sleep problems. Let’s take a look at a couple of the leading culprits:

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is an often diagnosed condition that is said to exist in over half a million Americans. Energy levels decrease and lethargy is present in the body. If you’re feeling tired for more than 24 hours, or your energy is depleted all the time, you may have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The problem is doctors don’t seem to really know what causes it! Some think it’s some form of virus but no real concrete evidence exists as of yet to identify exactly what leads to CFS. (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome seems to be diagnosed by doctors when they run out of ideas as a “catch all”! )

Symptoms can extend to muscle pain, sore joints, difficulty focusing and concentrating on normal tasks, and a large amount of tiredness.

Menopause

Another leading cause of extreme tiredness in women is menopause. It can lead to having an overwhelming sense of weakness, exhaustion, sleepiness, and less energy to devote to everyday, normal tasks. A person suffering from fatigue would possess a lack of willpower, motivation, and may have the desire to sleep.

In turn, these symptoms could lead to anger, abusive behavior, bitterness, and other negative behaviors. Extreme fatigue in women may also cause stress, shortness of breath, night sweats, and a sudden change in weight.
Usually, menopause leads to a hormonal imbalance in the body, which in turns leads to extreme fatigue in women. The life processes taking place in the body usually require homeostasis, as does estrogen production. Maintaining the correct cholesterol levels, constructing tissues, and maintaining blood flow are processes all affected by menopause. If you’re suffering from such similar symptoms, talk to an expert or physician.

However, there are other possible causes of extreme fatigue that should be ruled out as well. These can be more serious maladies of which extreme fatigue is a symptom.

Lyme Disease

  • Lyme disease can be transmitted to people through the bites of a tick. It can cause symptoms such as fever, rash, aching / soreness, weakness, and joint swelling.  It can also cause extreme fatigue in women and men.

Anemia

  • Another common cause of extreme fatigue in women is anemia. Anemia is a condition where the body has less blood than normal. As a result, there are fewer red blood cells (which carry oxygen) in the body. Symptoms of anemia can include shortness of breath, dizziness, and tiredness.

Hematochromatosis

  • This is a disease that affects the human liver. When iron accumulates in the liver beyond the normal amount, it can lead to extreme fatigue in women and men. This condition requires immediate medical attention. Some symptoms are: graying skin, arthritis, soreness and cirrhosis.

Extreme fatigue in women can be caused by any of a variety of factors and conditions. In order to tell what it might be, you have to closely examine symptoms that exist along with the fatigue. Doing so will reveal to you what condition you might have.
